Why We Chose VOC-Free Paint for the Salon

When creating the new salon space, every detail was considered carefully.

The aim was simple: to create a place that feels calm, comfortable and healthy to spend time in — somewhere clients can relax while having their hair done.

One thing that’s often overlooked when decorating a space is the paint on the walls.

The paint in a room matters
Conventional paints contain VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). These chemicals can evaporate slowly into the air and contribute to indoor air pollution. Even after paint has dried, conventional paint products continue releasing these compounds for quite some time.

In a place where people may spend an hour or two relaxing and unwinding, the quality of the environment matters.

For that reason the salon was decorated using VOC-free paints from Lakeland Paints.

Why VOC-free makes sense in a salon

Hair salons already involve a variety of products and processes, so choosing low-toxicity materials where possible helps keep the space feeling fresh and comfortable.

VOC-free paint means:

• No strong solvent smells
• No chemical off-gassing
• Cleaner indoor air
• A more pleasant environment to spend time in

It also means the space can be decorated or refreshed without that lingering “fresh paint” smell that many people notice in newly painted rooms.

A calmer salon environment

Creating a welcoming environment is about many small details working together.

From the products used, to the materials in the space, the aim is simply to create a salon that feels natural, calm and comfortable from the moment you walk in.

VOC-free paint is just one small part of that approach — but it helps make the space feel that little bit better to spend time in.
